Overview

A Local Web Server (LWS), which is necessary for Local File Networking, allows you to access and modify user variables. This page describes how to use the LWS in BrightAuthor:connected. If your player is used with a partner CMS or not configured for use with BrightAuthor:connected publishing, these functions may not be available or may be relocated to a different port.

How to Use the LWS

You can access the LWS using the BrightSign app or a web browser. The LWS is enabled when the player is set up for Local File Networking during device setup (under Admin > Device Setup). The LWS may also be enabled or disabled when the Device Type is set to anything but “Local File Networking”.

To find the LWS on a web browser, enter the IP address of the player at port 8080 (for example, “10.0.1.199:8080”). You can find the player IP address in the Remote DWS Info section under Ethernet/WiFi IP, or power up your device after removing the storage and the IP will be shown on the display screen.

This will bring you to the Device Web Page, which allows you to update user variables over the local network (see Image 1).
