Can you overlay text or images on video in BrightAuthor:connected?

 Expand

Yes. All BrightSign players (except the HD600) support this.

  • Image files that are displayed in a Video or Image or Image zone will automatically display over video zones.

  • Use a Live Text State to layer text over a video in an Image or Video or Image zone. The Live Text State also lets you switch between one or more text fields with background images.

  • You can layer text over an image by placing a Ticker Zone over an Image zone.

Can BrightAuthor:connected presentations display static or scrolling text, RSS, or Twitter feeds?

 Expand

Text and RSS can be displayed as static, animated, or scrolling text within a Ticker Zone**. The video in the linked page provides a tutorial on this and other methods of displaying text.

To display Twitter content in BrightAuthor:connected, use a HTML page that embeds the Twitter content. See https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-for-websites/timelines/overview.

**This feature is also available in BrightScript via the roTextWidget object and JavaScript via the BSTicker object.

How do BrightAuthor:connected presentations cache/download Media RSS Feeds?

 Expand

BrightAuthor:connected presentations running on a player will cache a single Media RSS (MRSS) feed and retain the content files until they are refreshed. See Media RSS Feeds for additional information.

When displaying a Media RSS feed, a BrightAuthor:connected presentation will play files as they are downloaded (not download the entire feed before starting playback). The presentation waits up to five seconds per image. If an image file takes longer than five seconds to download, the unit skips to the next image in the feed. If a video file hasn't finished downloading, the unit skips to the next file until all feed items have been attempted.

The player will play feed items that are already downloaded while waiting for the rest of the feed to be completed.

How do I create a playlist in BrightAuthor:connected?

 Expand

See this page to build a basic, non-interactive playlist, or this page to build an interactive playlist.

How does shuffling work in BrightAuthor:connected Media Lists?

 Expand

If you enable the Shuffle playback option in a Media List state, the playlist will shuffle upon entering the media list state when it’s at the beginning of the list. If you are manually advancing through a media list using interactive input, then the playlist shuffles the Media List when it reaches the end of the list. It is also possible to advance to the next file in the list.

The Media List state is only available for use in an Interactive presentation.

Can I ignore input (e.g. buttons) in my interactive playlist?

 Expand

In a BrightAuthor:connected Interactive playlist all input is automatically ignored unless it is manually defined in BrightAuthor:connected. For an example of how to define input, see Create GPIO Input in BA:connected.
