SD Card Security

This section provides a general overview of security for SD cards.

Physical Security

If you plan to use a microSD card, you can use the physical card cover that goes over the SD card slot to increase security. If you need additional physical security, an SSD can be a better option since you must open the case to access the SSD drive.

Asset Security

BrightSign supports optional content and script encryption to make your SD card readable only on the player, as well as secure boot. You also have the option to disable external (SD, USB) storage.

Malware/Virus Protection

To avoid malware:

  • Use the card cover on your SD card or an SSD drive

  • Keep your firmware updated to get the latest security fixes

  • When transferring data between devices, use secure connections such as USB cables or trusted wireless connections. Avoid connecting to unknown or unsecured Wi-Fi networks.
