Audio Stream
As of BrightAuthor version 3.7.0.12, you can stream unicast and multicast audio from a remote source to BrightSign players using the Audio Stream state.
State Name: Specify a unique name for the stream state.
URL for video stream: Enter a valid URL for the stream. The URL can also include a number of optional parameters:
Specify a User Variable to replace all or part of the URL. To include the Value of the variable in the URL, enter the variable Name between two sets of dollar signs (e.g. "http://www.example.com/streams/$$my_URLvar$$").
Append the "?latency=[value_in_ms]" parameter to modify the default latency (see this How-to… for more details).
Append the "?buffersize=[size_in_bytes]" parameter to modify the default streaming buffer size (see this How-to… for more details).
Time to play: Specify the duration (in seconds) that the stream will be played. This option is only available in non-interactive presentations. To customize the duration of a stream in an interactive presentation, use a Timeout or Media End event.
Supported Audio Streaming Protocols
Supported formats, codecs, and bitrates are:
Streaming Protocols: UDP, RTP, RTSP, HTTP
Encapsulation: MPEG2 TS (transport stream)
Codecs: MPEG2 Layer 1/2, MPEG2 Layer 3 (mp3), AAC, WAV
Bitrates: Any supported by the codec
Sample Rates: 32kHz, 44.1kHz, 48kHz
Channels: Mono, stereo
Other Technologies: Source-Specific Multicast (IGMPv3) streaming (requires BOS 6.2.147 or later)
If you are running into audio quality issues as a result of poor network performance, you can try increasing the size of the streaming buffer on the player.
