Managing Templates
ON THIS PAGE
BrightPlates comes equipped with a number of default templates for key verticals: Food Services, Retail, Corporate, and Education. However, you can also use presentation templates that are specialized for your organization or business. To manage your templates, click Manage Templates in the top-right of the page.
Adding a Template
Click the Upload new template button to open the Upload Template window:
- Browse: Locate and select the .zip file containing the presentation template files.
- Template filename: Enter the name of the HTML template file. This file is usually named index.html. If you don't know the name of the HTML file, open the template .zip file and identify the .html file that is in the root directory of that zip file.
- Category: Select a vertical to which the template belongs.
- Orientation: Specify whether the template is Landscape (e.g. 1920x1080) or Portrait (e.g. 1080x1920) oriented.
- Title: Specify a title for the template, which will be visible in the Templates browser in the BrightPlates UI.
- Description: Specify a description for the template, which will be visible when the template is selected in the Templates browser.
- Enable jQuery®: Check this box if the template uses jQuery®, which allows for advanced data parsing and server interaction. Ask the template author if you're not sure whether or not your template uses jQuery®.
- Upload: Click this button to upload the template to BrightPlates. It will be visible in the Templates browser momentarily.
Note
Templates should contain fewer than 100 files. If the template contains close to 100 files, the average file size should not exceed 650-700 KB. The template upload process may fail if these limits are exceeded.
Managing Templates
You can do any of the following on the Manage Templates page:
- Delete selected: Deletes the templates that you've checked (selected).
- Deselect all: Removes check markers from all templates in the list.
Delete: Removes the template from your BrightPlates account.Â
Important
Deleting a template will make presentations based on that template unusable. Make sure the template is unused before deleting it.
- Download: Download the template .zip file. When downloaded, the template file will have a long, indecipherable name (e.g. "9d85826319386642941c3b7d3341035a.zip"), so we recommend giving it a more user friendly name once it's saved on your computer.
