Perform a Network Test on a Player

There are several ways to run a network test on a BrightSign player:

In the Diagnostic Web Server

You can use the Diagnostic Web Server (DWS) to run network diagnostics:

  1. If you are using BrightAuthor:connected, select the wheel icon next to your player in the Network tab. If you are not a BrightAuthor:connected user, use the the local DWS:

    1. Get the IP address of the player (see this page).

    2. Type the IP address of the player into a web browser.

  2. Go to the Diagnostics tab.

  3. Select Run Diagnostics under Network Diagnostics.

During Player Set Up in BrightAuthor

You can run network diagnostics while installing setup files on a player in BrightAuthor:

  1. Go to Tools > Setup BrightSign Unit.

  2. Click Advanced Network Setup, select Diagnostics, and check the Enable Network Diagnostics box.

  3. Check the boxes under Enable Network Diagnostics to test desired interfaces. See this page.

  4. Insert an SD card with the setup files (with network diagnostics enabled) into the player.

  5. Power up the player. It will run a network test, display the results on the screen, and then continue the normal setup process.

Use a Script

Use the script below to run a network diagnostic test on a BrightSign player. The results will be shown on the display connected to the player.

To do this:

  1. Download . (9 KB)

  2. Copy it to a blank SD card (formatted in FAT-32).

  3. Insert the SD card in the player.

  4. Power up the player.
